Quality Enhancement Initiative
In 1999, Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW) received Success By 6® funds from the United Way of America and Bank of America to develop a strategic plan for serving Tulsa’s young children. Working with the Child Care Resource Center, a plan was implemented to enhance the quality of care in child care centers sponsored by TAUW member agencies. Centers would serve children whose families qualified for subsidies through the Department of Human Services (DHS). As the quality level increased, DHS’s newly implemented Differential Star Rating System provided increased subsidy reimbursement to allow centers to maintain quality enhancements. After successfully raising the Star level of these centers, TAUW sustained funding for the Success By 6® Quality Enhancement Initiative and additional centers were added to the project. With the addition of funding from the DHS Division of Child Care, a Child Care Health Consultant and a Family Child Care Home Network were added to the project. In 2002, TAUW received a Success By 6® Expansion grant to guide and advocate for critical improvements in early care and learning opportunities. Currently, the Quality Enhancement Initiative/Success by 6 impacts Tulsa's child care community by working toward these quality markers:
In addition to expert services, providers benefit from additional services offered by the Child Care Resource Center. |
