Amy Emerson, MD, has enjoyed working with the families at Tulsa Educare for several years, and now is involved in Community Outreach for the Tulsa area in conjunction with the Talking Is Teaching campaign. In this capacity, she supports churches, early learning centers and other organizations to host family engagement activities and works with existing community partners to educate families regarding early brain growth and early literacy.
Dr. Emerson completed medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine before embarking on a residency in Pediatrics with additional time in training spent in Developmental/Behavioral pediatrics. Upon moving to Tulsa, she began teaching in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and at that time began promoting Reach Out and Read in the community. She now serves as a local Medical Champion for Reach Out and Read, and is a board member of the Oklahoma Reach Out and Read State Coalition.
She also serves on the Board of Lilyfield Christian Adoption and Foster Care Agency, and is very interested in issues surrounding children in foster care. She is married to Dr. Clint Emerson and they enjoy chasing four busy children!
