DIRECTOR

Rise School of Stillwater - Stillwater, OK

The College of Human Environmental Sciences, Oklahoma State University, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of the Rise School of Stillwater.  The Rise School of Stillwater is an early intervention program for young children (ages 18 months to 42 month of age) that integrates children with disabilities with their non-disabled peers.  Students with disabilities (e.g., Down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy) will comprise 60% of the class.  The goals of Rise are to (a) provide a blend of educational and therapy services within the context of a developmentally appropriate curriculum; (b) provide family-centered services designed to meet the individualized needs of all children and families; and (c) prepare children for their next educational environment.  The school adheres to the philosophy and recommended practices of both early childhood special education and general early childhood education.

 

Director responsibilities and duties include (but are not limited to):  maintaining licensure and ensuring that all state and local requirements are met; maintaining the highest program standards within the framework of the program curriculum; assuring that the complete Rise School model is implemented and the quality of the program is maintained; preparing the School budget and overseeing expenditures; managing tuition collection and eligibility for financial aid; providing instructional leadership; engaging in public relations activities; fund-raising and development activities; establishing and maintaining a positive image in the community and a working relationship with service agencies; interacting with university faculty and collaborating on evaluation/research activities; developing job descriptions and recruiting, hiring, and evaluating staff; and maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment.

 

Qualifications:  Master’s degree in early childhood education, special education, education, school administration, school psychology, or similar field.  Certifications/endorsements in early childhood, special education, and/or principal’s certification preferred.  Skills and experience with the following activities required:  a) school/program administration, b) public relations skills, and c) fundraising experience.  Classroom teaching experience of children with special needs preferred.  Excellent people, communication, and organizational skills are necessary.  Individual should be a self-starter, highly motivated, and eager to grow a new program.  Familiarity with child care licensing, subsidies, and computer skills would be helpful.  Depending upon qualifications and experience, this position may include a clinical instructor appointment in the College.

Salary commensurate with experience.  Background check will be conducted.
