4/11/13: Child Care Aware® of America issued a press release, “We Can Do Better: 2013 Update” that Oklahoma child care laws nearly fail to protect children. There was a ranking of state child care center regulations and oversight. Oklahoma ranks 4th in the nation but can still do many things better as that still is only a “C” grade. In the last two months, things like bunk beds, licorice twists, night lights, baby bathers, pacifiers, and scooters have been recalled. Make yourself aware and keep your children safe! 8/19/12: 4 million Bumbo Seats have been recalled due to injuries from falls. People are urged to stop using them until they install a repair kit. Click here for the full story.

7/16/12: Great News! The producers of “Your Baby Can Read!” which falsely claimed its product taught babies to read, has shut down. This $200 video series was deceiving families saying the product was educational for babies without any evidence of that claim. Click here for the full story.
7/10/12: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a release announcing new federal safety standards for play yards or pack ‘n plays. Between November 2007 and December 2011, there were more than 2,100 incidents involving play yards reported to CPSC, including 60 fatalities and 170 injuries. There are now new mandatory requirements for play yards. Click here to see the press release.

6/1/12: On Thursday, May 31, Samara Stephenson, Resource and Referral Specialist/Hispanic Outreach Specialist was awarded Tulsa Community College’s Best of TCC Award. Sam’s quote was “TCC made it possible for me to go from being a high school dropout to being a degreed professional. At my own pace, I went from class to class. Some courses that changed my life and perspectives were: Human Relations 101, Humanities 101 and Native American History. I am so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to attend TCC.” Karen Smith’s quote was “Samara has the knack to turn the most sour lemons into sweet lemonade through her smile, creativity, energy and resourcefulness.”




5/30/12: General admission tickets for Top of the Town are officially sold out…with two weeks left until the event! VIP tickets are still available for $125 each. These tickets allow exclusive access to the 16th floor of the Petroleum Club Building as well as full access to the rest of the event.
5/22/12: We have sold over 300 tickets for Top of the Town. That leaves less than 200 available! Here’s an article from today’s Tulsa World about the event.
4/25/12: Thank you to Route 66 Photo Booth for agreeing to be the picture spot for Top of the Town 2012. What a great way to capture the fun you’re having with your friends on a momento that you can take home then and there!
