The LINK Project
The LINK Project helps children, from birth to age six, reach their full developmental potential. Through screening and assessment, each child’s developmental strengths and areas of concern are identified and those children who might benefit from early intervention services can be identified prior to entering school.
The LINK Project provides free developmental, hearing, vision, speech and social-emotional screening for children in their Tulsa County child care center or family child care home. The program was originally introduced into the Tulsa community through Children’s Medical Center in 1990. In October, 2006, the program was revitalized under the umbrella of the Child Care Resource Center.
Early identification and treatment is vital to reducing cognitive, social emotional and physical delays in children before they enter school and the concept of the LINK Project is key to early intervention. The child care center and family child care home is a natural environment for many children; as some spend up to 50 hours per week in out of home care. LINK screenings are offered to every child in care; because all parents are interested in how their child is progressing developmentally.
The LINK team works closely with agencies and service providers in the community to provide families with appropriate referral and support in any area identified as a need or concern.
